In 2022, we saw many companies take on global expansion in the age of digital transformation. More organizations than ever are realizing the importance of language when it comes to global expansion, and 2023 promises to see an increased prioritization of Global Experience (GX) as a key part of their expansion strategy.
Here’s how LILT has contributed to this overall mission, along with the advancements made by leaders who care about building an exceptional global customer experience.
Platform + Product Growth:
Connectors are key building blocks for seamless localization operations and processes. At LILT, we made Connectors and integrations one of our highest priorities in 2022. In fact, over 80% of all LILT projects from customers were run through integrations, and the number of jobs that were run through integrations in 2021 was nearly doubled. The 5 most used Connectors in 2022 were: SDL, Zendesk, XTM, Contentful, and GitHub.
Looking ahead, we are confident that Connectors and integrations are going to continue to play a key role in localization services in 2023. That’s why we launched 11 more Connectors this year:
Crowdin TMS
Smartling TMS
Memsource / Phrase TMS
Craft CMS
Azure Blob (File system)
Captionhub (Closed Captioning)
Helpshift (Customer Support)
Termweb (Termbase storage)
Salesforce Service Cloud (Customer support emails)
Phrase Strings TMS
Lingotek TMS
Along with expanding our Connectors and integrations, we continued to focus on creating fast and reliable enterprise translation. In 2022, LILT translated more than 1 million documents into 103 languages and locales. The top 5 languages we localized into were: Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Portuguese.
We’ve also been able to increase efficiency by utilizing adaptive Machine Translation more effectively. In this year alone, we experienced a 1000% increase in machine translated characters.
LILT Growth and Awards:
We’ve seen tremendous growth in 2022, and are heading into 2023 with more resources and a greater workforce. Earlier this year, we raised $55M in Series C funding, and increased our total headcount by 53%.
We were also honored to be included in the 2022 GartnerⓇ Market Guide for AI-Enabled Translation Services. Our significant enhancements to localization processes and workflows, including our adaptive machine learning technology, helped LILT feature as a Representative Vendor in their report.
In addition, LILT was awarded ISO 9001 and ISO 17100 Certifications. The ISO 9001 Certification is awarded to companies that demonstrate the consistent ability to provide products and services that meet regulatory requirements. The ISO 17100 Certification establishes an internationally recognized standard for quality in the translation industry.
Notable Assets:
Our team worked hard this year to provide research-based assets for our industry and our partners. In 2022, we released our video, LILT: Global Experience Platform, defining what a global experience is for our partners, and how our platform can help make that a reality.
In addition, we published A Guide to Maximizing Localization ROI, LILT’s eBook resource that helps our partners cut costs without sacrificing quality. In it, we explain the localization technologies and processes (such as smart automation and Connectors) that help increase both efficiency and accuracy.
We also released the State of Global Experience Report, a survey of 1800 professionals from various departments, companies, and geographies. Some of our findings include:
95% of leaders believe that language of choice is important throughout the customer journey.
90% of respondents consider global experience (GX) a priority.
Only 12% of companies’ digital customer touchpoints are fully multilingual.
(We recommend downloading the whole report so you can create a successful Global Experience (GX) strategy in 2023.)
