Background
As the world confronts the urgent challenges posed by climate change, people everywhere are rethinking how their daily choices impact the planet. From reducing energy consumption to embracing sustainable living, for many, these changes start at home.
Futurehome AS is an innovative company contributing to the electrification of society through smart products and holistic home energy management solutions. Founded in 2013 and supported initially through grassroots crowdfunding, Futurehome has rapidly scaled to become a market leader in Norway with more than 50,000 users and more than 30,000 green-connected homes. Their mission is clear: to simplify how people experience everyday life by creating a safe, accessible, and energy-efficient way of living through new smart technologies.
From smart lighting and smart heating products to power sockets and relays, Futurehome enables multi-dwelling units and single-family homes to transform into smarter, safer, more energy-efficient, and more easily managed living spaces.
Why Futurehome Chose LILT
Futurehome has grown to a team of more than 50 people across three global offices, supporting an extensive portfolio of connected products. As demand for energy-efficient home solutions climbs, so has interest in Futurehome outside of Norway. Preparing for expansion into new international markets, the team recognized the importance of making their entire product experience accessible to customers, regardless of the language they spoke. This meant not only translating their products but also in-app content, help articles, support materials, blog posts, and other key customer touch points.
To create a seamless journey for their customers in nine target languages, Futurehome sought a partner capable of supporting translation at a global scale with the speed required to go to market quickly. Of course, this needed to be possible while exceeding top-quality standards, even for highly technical translation.
To build this experience, Futurehome chose LILT, the complete enterprise language platform for multimodal content translation and generation. With LILT’s AI-driven solution and suite of 60+ Connectors, Futurehome has successfully translated more than a half million words across various content types. This partnership has empowered Futurehome to meet its global expansion goals with AI scale and speed.
LILT combines machine translation with human expertise, allowing us to maintain high quality while speeding up delivery. LILT made it easy to scale our global translations without adding complexity, helping us reach new markets faster.

Seamless, Connector-Forward Workflow
A connected workflow has been essential to the success of the LILT-Futurehome partnership. To create a comprehensive multilingual experience across multiple customer touchpoints, Futurehome needed to translate content across several systems in its existing tech stack. LILT’s Zendesk, Figma, and Git Connectors for Verified Translation ensured Futurehome’s team could develop multilingual content without interrupting their preferred workflows. Futurehome’s Program Manager Dawid Król explained, “LILT’s API easily integrated with our platform, automating translations and scaling without any disruption.”
To create a global self-service customer support experience, Futurehome uses LILT’s Zendesk Connector to translate Helpdesk articles. When the team writes new content in Zendesk, the Connector pulls it into the LILT Platform and automatically creates new projects for Verified Translation. From there, skilled linguists interact with the AI-generated translation suggestions, guaranteeing accuracy and providing feedback for real-time training of Futurehome’s bespoke LILT LLM. Over time, this continuous model training enhances translation accuracy and alignment with Futurehome’s preferred writing style.
The LILT-Figma Connector allows Futurehome to efficiently translate design content, including product sheets and user manuals, with AI-driven efficiency. The team can send and receive translated content in its original design format, with quality assured by LILT linguists. Even better, they can do all of this without ever leaving Figma.
Finally, multilingual technical support content is only truly effective when it complements a dynamic, multilingual product UX. To ensure a consistent product experience, Futurehome relies on LILT’s Git Connector to make its in-app content available in all customers’ preferred languages.
Altogether, this connected workflow ensures that the Futurehome team can easily translate content without extra manual steps or ever having to leave their preferred content creation systems. Fine-tuning of Futurehome’s unique LLM prevents inconsistencies and deviations in company tone and language, despite content being housed in different business systems.
LILT’s integrations allow us to seamlessly integrate translations into our workflow.

Ensuring Accuracy in Context
The Verified Translation workflow guarantees that Futurehome’s translated content is highly accurate, but quality multilingual content extends beyond word selection and style. It is also crucial that translated language fits seamlessly into the design specifications of each content type. Since languages vary in characters, word length, and grammar, translation can also cause problems for web and mobile app designers.
To ensure that translated areas in the Futurehome app are both linguistically and aesthetically precise, LILT linguists conduct in-context review to identify and correct any potential errors before launch. With access to the development environment of the Futurehome app, linguists test various user flows to ensure that translation is both accurate and properly formatted and that the basic functionality of the app is intact. This thorough review process ensures a flawless global user experience, delivering a polished product to customers worldwide.
Managing translations is now streamlined and integrated into our app, making it simple and efficient.

Cost Savings Through Leverage
LILT’s AI capabilities not only ensure the accuracy and consistency of Futurehome’s content but also make it possible for LILT to deliver industry-leading cost efficiencies. LILT’s Custom Models enhance translation by building on historical translation memories (TM) and continually refining translation suggestions based on previous human verification workflows. By automatically leveraging Futurehome’s data sources, LILT populates target text with 100% or 101% matches, optimizing both consistency and speed.
This approach allows Futurehome to maintain brand and consistency across repeated content, while only paying for the new words translated. Leveraging exact matches has allowed Futurehome to save 24% on LILT’s already competitive price per word, stretching their program budget even further.
Agile Technology with Human Support
Even with a streamlined content production workflow and intuitive user experience, having a responsive account team is invaluable. LILT’s dedicated teams provide essential project management and strategic guidance, offering agile and thorough support as customers develop and refine their multilingual content strategy. For Futurehome, this has made all the difference.
Many types of services today are purely digital. Having someone to care for us and having a face to the service is important… maybe now more than ever. Our team at LILT has always been there for us.
